GVA Seal of Biliteracy

At Global Village Academy, students can earn the GVA Seal of Biliteracy, a special recognition celebrating their progress toward full biliteracy.

This school-based honor showcases a student's language achievement and serves as a meaningful milestone on their journey toward earning the official Colorado State Seal of Biliteracy in high school.

The GVA Seal of Biliteracy is designed to honor students who thrive in their language immersion journey in the classroom and real-world settings.

We believe that true language mastery includes engaging with cultural awareness and confidence. Our goal is to help students use their language skills to connect, collaborate, and contribute locally and globally.

Through this program, students are encouraged to apply what they’ve learned, celebrate their bilingualism, and recognize the value of their cultural and linguistic strengths as they impact the world around them.

Colorado Seal of Biliteracy

In March of 2017, Colorado passed the Seal of Biliteracy bill. This bill authorizes a school district to grant a diploma endorsement in biliteracy to a student who demonstrates proficiency in English and at least one foreign language.

An endorsed high school diploma encourages students to pursue biliteracy skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions offices. The Seal of Biliteracy is granted to a graduating high school student who attains proficiency or higher in one or more world languages in addition to proficiency or higher in English.
