Due to the continued spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Colorado, Aurora Public Schools is cancelling all afternoon sports, activities and events today. This includes all after-school childcare and facilities rentals. At this time, we consider this an important preventative measure.
We recognize there are sports and activities scheduled in the coming days. We will make a decision and continue to communicate with you as quickly as possible.
As Governor Jared Polis shared last night, the state is asking that large public gatherings, including sporting events, establish protocols for safe spacing to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
Although we do not yet have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in APS at this time, we continue to assess and make real-time decisions with new guidance from public health officials. We apologize for any inconvenience this after-school cancellation may cause families. As we stated earlier, we will continue to monitor and communicate these decisions quickly.
