Indoor Dismissal for Inclement Weather

 
 
East Campus Indoor Dismissal Reminders
 
Indoor Dismissal Occurs in the
Event of:
  • 19 degrees or below
  • Rain, sleet, hail, snow (please note, misting and light drizzle or snow flurry does not count as rain/snow).
  • Extreme wind
  • Unsafe surface conditions for dismissal or other danger determined by Administration.
 
In the event of indoor dismissal, there are two ways to pick up students:
 
Drive-Thru
Parents will drive through the pick-up lane as usual. A staff member will get the students name, grade, teacher from the parent and text to a staff member inside who will call the student to room 103. Once checked in, students will be taken outside in groups to their cars. 
 
Park and Come Inside
Parents and West siblings are not allowed beyond the vestibule. West students will not be able to use the East Campus phone. Please plan accordingly. 
 
Parents will check in with a designated staff member in the vestibule. Once checked, a runner will collect the child from their classroom and bring to the parent/West sibling. 
 
No students are allowed to stay in the building once picked up. 
 
REMEMBER: If it’s 20 degrees or above, it will be outside dismissal. Please make sure students are appropriately dressed daily. Colorado has swiftly changing weather, just because it’s nice in the morning, doesn’t mean it will stay that way. 
 
Indoor Recess
Recess will be held indoors if the temperature is 19 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, raining, snowing or if deemed appropriate by GVA staff (Rain, sleet, hail, snow (please note, misting and light drizzle or snow flurry does not count as rain/snow).
 
West Campus Indoor Dismissal Reminders
 
Indoor Dismissal Occurs in the
Event of:

·      Rain, sleet, hail, snow (please note, misting and light drizzle or snow flurry does not count as rain/snow).
·      Extreme wind
·      Unsafe surface conditions for dismissal or other danger determined by Administration.
 
In the event of indoor dismissal, there are two ways to pick up students:
 
Drive-Thru
Parents will drive through the pick-up lane as usual. A staff member will get the student's name, grade, a teacher from the parent and radio/ text to a staff member inside who will call the student over the PA and student to be dismissed to the waiting vehicle. 
 
West students will not be able to use the East Campus phone. West Campus students will not be able to wait inside the East Campus building as well. Please plan accordingly. 
 
Park and Come Inside  
Parents will check in with the front office in the vestibule. Once checked, a runner will collect the child from their classroom and bring to the front office. If picking up an Elementary student and you wish to pick up your Middle School students, that will be allowed even if it is before 3:10 PM.
 
Middle School Students
Students will be released as usual at 3:10. Students will leave the building and look for the waiting vehicle. If the Middle School student walks to East Campus to pick up a younger sibling, they will be allowed to do so. They may pick up their sibling in the vestibule, but will not be allowed to wait inside to be picked up or use the phone at the East Campus.
