alex stangaPresident

Alex Stanga

Alex was born in California, raised in South Dakota, joined the Air Force, and lived all around the country before settling in Colorado with his family. He went to college at South Dakota State University and graduated in 2013 with a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering. He has always been fascinated by space, the military, and flying and decided to join the Air Force through ROTC in college. In his senior year in college, he decided he wanted to do engineering in the military and was first stationed in Colorado Springs doing satellite engineering operations.

He is married with two beautiful children, and their youngest son is in the Spanish Village at GVA Aurora. Alex shares that he couldn’t have picked a better school for him to attend, and he loves going to GVA.

Currently, Alex is a program manager in Denver with the Air Force working on space launch vehicles and rockets. He also mentors startup companies navigating the defense technology ecosystem and trying to get their foot in the door. For fun, he likes to do software programming and create mobile applications that solve interesting problems. He is working on a mobile health application with his wife and her team at Arizona State University.

He is happy to be part of the SAC and help focus the efforts of the school and connect as much as he can with our community and parents. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact him.

Liz CastilloVice President
Liz Castillo

Liz was born and raised in Mexico and came to the United States as a young child. Her difficulties learning the English language taught her the importance of being bilingual. Being bilingual is an advantage, and it’s fantastic to learn, understand and live both American and Mexican cultures and traditions.

Liz was fascinated with becoming a JROTC Marine Corps member as a teenager. Life changed for her, and she didn’t continue to pursue her dream as an adult. Being a young cadet in JROTC was the absolute best for her.  She became disciplined and orderly and discovered her love for working out, staying in shape, and living healthy. She also discovered her ability to be a leader and not be afraid to stand up for herself or others.

Liz is now a happy mother of three beautiful kiddos, whom she adores and lives for.  She is passionate about seeing them grow, learn and experience the world they live in. Liz believes having the advantage of being bilingual is important for them and strongly encourages them to develop their ability to be fluent in both languages. Being part of her daughter's school events and their projects is very important to her. She believes that helping the school administration with anything the school needs is crucial for the success of our students and the scholar community.

She is excited to go through this new experience of being part of SAC and can't wait for what lies ahead.

Mara Kaiser

Mara has lived in several states, including Missouri, Indiana, Utah, Michigan, California, and Colorado. Throughout that journey, she attended six different schools for K-12. She is now happily settled in Aurora, Colorado, with her wonderful husband and three amazing kids.

Her passion for problem-solving and love of learning (and of math!) led Mara to pursue a degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University. She now works as a Site Reliability Engineer for a software development company, utilizing her technical background and critical thinking abilities to ensure the stability and reliability of software systems.

Mara loves being a mother. She loves being involved in her children's education and enjoys being a part of the Global Village Academy community, getting to know her kids' teachers, and helping out wherever possible.

She has a sense of adventure and enjoys pushing herself (and her family) to try new things. Mara has bungee jumped from the bridge to nowhere in California, took a Parkour class, and participated in a half marathon and a sprint triathlon.

Mara loves being outdoors and exploring the beautiful mountains (hiking, biking, and skiing are among her favorites). She loves music (she played the piano and violin growing up). She also enjoys cooking, baking, and trying new recipes with her kids. Her family currently includes 2 dogs, a guinea pig, and a bird.
