Global Village Academy Collaborative (GVAC) Lottery Policy

Purpose


The student lottery policy ensures a fair, transparent, and equitable enrollment process for all applicants when the number of student applicants exceeds available seats at any grade level at any Global Village Academy (GVA) school.

Lottery Process

  1. Application Period: Families must submit a complete enrollment application by January 8, 11:59 pm MST of the previous school year to be included in the lottery.
  2. Lottery Date: If applications exceed 150 at any grade level, a random, computerized lottery will be conducted on January 15 (or the next regular school day if the date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a school holiday) for the following school year.
  3. Lottery Priorities: The following preferences will be applied in order:
    • Siblings of currently enrolled students.
    • Children of employees:  which includes children of staff or faculty members who work at least half-time, have full or joint custody of the child, and begin employment on or before the first day of school of the year in which they are applying. (without limitations on the percentage of total enrollment).
  4. Notification & Acceptance: Families selected in the lottery will be notified on January 16 (or the next regular school day if the date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a school holiday) and must confirm enrollment within three business days.  Families that do not confirm enrollment within the time frame MAY be put on a waitlist."
  5. Waitlist: Applicants not selected will be placed on a waitlist in the order drawn and offered admission as seats become available.  Additional applicants will be placed on a waitlist after the lottery based on the order in which their completed application is received.
